_____ Cooler with sturdy latch and handles to help tie-in
PLEASE! NO STYROFOAM! THEY JUST DON'T

_____ Lunch - Pack in crush/water proof containers

_____ Ice - Frozen water containers keep food cold as well as
Provides drinking water

_____ Rope / Twine / Bungies Tie all gear in plus rope for
bow and stern painters

_____ Shovel - Bury all evidence of nature calls. Let's keep
our "Virginia Scenic River" clean and beautiful.

_____ Water Bailer Clorox bottle with tie string attached
and/or a large sponge

_____ Trash Bags Drawstring type works great too easily
attach to thwart. We provide bags for your aluminum
Please don't bring glass containers.

ABOUT CAR KEYS: Leave them with us or somewhere on your car.
Whatever you do, don't take them on the river. Hard to believe but it's
the one thing you would probably lose.

KEEP YOUR PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICE ON - Especially in rapids and fast moving water

SWIM CALLS ARE GREAT, BUT DIVING IS A NO! NO!

KNEELING shifts center of gravity to bottom of canoe and will greatly limit turnovers

WEAR SHOES during swim call and especially while wading

IF YOU CAPSIZE IN RAPIDS:

A. Immediately position yourself upstream of the canoe
B. Keep your feet up and pointed downstream "go with the Flow" until standing is easy
C. Hold onto your paddle and stay with the canoe-it's your best way back!

STAY WITH YOUR GROUP-Occasional islands can separate your group and cause anxious moments "Stay with sight of each other

RECYCLING

Please sort your trash. At the end of your trip, we will provide separate containers for glass (that your shouldn't have taken on the river), aluminum and misc. trash. We at Clore Bros. are very serious about our environment and wish to do everything possible to make sure that we dispose of trash responsibly. Please make this task easier for us by being responsible for separating your own trash.
